WHY TAKE A MULTIVITAMIN?

If you have a well-balanced diet, multivitamins are unnecessary, right? Well, actually, no. Not for most of us. First of all, a multivitamin contains a variety of vitamins and minerals and other nutrients that help us maintain general well-being, nutrients we need every moment of the day. They do so by supplying vital ingredients which work together to protect and nourish us. Unfortunately, our general lifestyles and faddish eating hasn't helped. And even our soil has been denuded of past enrichment, meaning we have to 'cheat' to top up what isn't there or only in diluted form. So multivitamins offer convenience. They are especially convenient for certain lifestyles and population groups. For example, multivitamins may be especially useful for the elderly, child bearing women and children. Add to that list athletes, people who lead active lifestyles, workaholics and the sick - and you've pretty much covered most of the population! A good multivitamin therefore is a catalyst to ensure good nutrient intake.

                              A BALANCED DIET?
I've never been sure what this term means! If I had a penny for every customer who tells me they have a "balanced diet" and by all accounts shouldn't really be overweight, have high blood-pressure, heart issues, diabetic, high cholesterol, arthritic, etcetera, I'd be a very wealthy man. Vegans eat differently to vegetarians, who eat differently to meat-eaters, who eat differently to raw food dieters, who... and so on. All are generally convinced that their diets are sufficient. One thing is for sure, whatever eating plan or balanced diet people have, an excess of sugar in the body is causing havoc and leading to a plethora of inflammation based illnesses. We are being corroded from within because of too much acid in the body. Modern day stresses are also acid forming. So unless your diet is keeping you nearly all the time in optimum health, at least 70% alkaline, unless you can rise above the stresses of life, nearly always maintain a postive well-being, and maybe well on the way to living to 150 years, I take my hat off to you. For most of us, we get by and, whatever the 'diet' we follow, supplementing with a daily multivitamin ensures daily nutrient intake.
