I don't get ill very often (famous last words) and when I was at secondary school I collected 100% Attendance badges like they were going out of fashion. And when I had kids of my own, of course, they weren't allowed to bunk off school unless it was life and death. My father kept chickens and part of his secret for keeping them healthy and hale was to 'douche' them. He'd put little drops of water into their nostrils and make them sneeze.
